Dr. Hersperger

Dr. Hersperger is a specialist in the treatment of Obsessive-Compulsive spectrum disorders and body-focused repetitive behaviors, using Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (E/RP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Habit Reversal Training. Dr. Hersperger is experienced in using elements of PCIT (parent child interaction therapy) and collaborative/proactive problem solving to help families of children with challenging behaviors. She also has training and experience using comprehensive behavioral interventions for tics and trichotillomania. Dr. Hersperger enjoys working with parents/caregivers of children with anxiety to implement evidence-based frameworks and techniques. 

EDUCATION & TRAINING

Dr. Hersperger earned her doctorate in clinical psychology at the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology of Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. While at Rutgers, she worked several years at The Anxiety Disorders Clinic and with the Tourette’s Syndrome Program. Dr. Hersperger completed her pre-doctoral internship at Terry Children’s Center in New Castle, DE, where she was trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT).
